How To Get To Bansko
Flights to Bansko
If you are coming via plane you will arrive in Bulgaria at Sofia Airport or Plovdiv Airport. There are frequent daily flights to Sofia from all over Europe. The route via Sofia to Bansko is also serviced by the most popular low cost airlines in Europe – EasyJet, Wizz Air, RyanAir . There are some flights to Plovdiv city as well, however they are not so many and regular.
If you plan to visit the Bulgarian seaside before or after the camp you can get a flight to the cities of Burgas and Varna. There are plenty of seasonal affordable flights to these cities in the summer. However, please note that the trip from Varna and Burgas to Bansko by car will take more time.
If you are from Bulgaria’s neighbouring countries, you might be coming by car all the way. If you are arriving in Bulgaria from Greece trough Kulata – then just follow the traffic signs. From
Transfers to Bansko
The easiest and most convenient way to reach from Sofia to Bansko is a transfer (airport transfer or chauffeur service). Pre-arranged transfer can be booked online. An English-speaking driver will meet you at the airport, will carry your luggage to the car and drive you safely to Bansko. Another advantage of the transfers is that the driver will leave you right in front of your hotel.
Bansko by Car / Rent-a-car
Bansko is approximately 2,5 hours by car from the capital of Bulgaria – Sofia and 3 hours from Plovdiv.
If you need to rent a car for your trip to Bansko there are many rent-a-car companies in Sofia airport and downtown.
There are petrol stations with all types of fuels located in the towns and along the motorways.
Buses to Bansko
There are also public bus services traveling from Sofia to Bansko and Plovdiv to Bansko. The duration by bus to Bansko is 2.5 hours. The average price of the ticket is 7 euros (13 – 14leva)

Attention: Some of the buses are only passing through Bansko. Most of them have Gotse Delchev, Ognyanovo, Yakoruda, Bania or Eleshnitsa as final destination!
NB: Not all the buses depart/arrive at the central bus station in Sofia. There are some little bus stations located in different neighbourhoods in the city. So be careful before booking your bus ticket.

Train to Bansko
There are three trains departing from Sofia to Bansko every day, however you need to make a transfer on the way. Trains timetable > http://razpisanie.bdz.bg
From Sofia Central Train Station take a train for a town called Septemvri (Септември) or one of the following directions: Burgas or Plovdiv. Just make sure the train stops in the town of Septemvri. This is where you need to take off and change the trains. You need to get a new train from Septemvri to Bansko. This route is one of the most notable train rides in the region. This is the only preserved and functioning 760 mm rail narrow-gauge railway in Bulgaria. It has a length of 106 km. and passes through three Bulgarian mountains – Rhodopes, Rila and Pirin. Here is also the highest station on the Balkan Peninsula – Station Avramovo to 1267 meters.
